Legal requirement
When is the RGIE inspection compulsory?
The compliance inspection is carried out by an approved body, independent of the electrician. It is required in four situations.
- 01
Selling a home
The seller must have the electrical installation inspected and hand the report to the buyer.
- 02
New installation
Every new installation must be inspected before it is put into service.
- 03
Major modification
A significant extension or change to the installation must also be inspected.
- 04
Periodic inspection
A domestic installation must be re-inspected every 25 years.
Radialec carries out the work and prepares your file; the compliance report is issued by the approved body you appoint. The exact rules are published by the FPS Economy.

Failed report: what we fix
A failed report lists the faults to correct. The most common ones:
- Missing or inadequate RCD protection
- Outdated fuse box, fuses to be replaced with breakers
- Circuits with no earthing or poor earthing
- Cable size not matched to the rating of the protection
- Poorly protected sockets, junction boxes or connections
- Missing equipotential bonding in the bathroom
- Missing or incomplete single-line diagram and layout plans
Based on the inspection body's report, we give you a clear, itemised quote.

Making the right choice
Selling or buying with a failed report
A failed report doesn't stop the sale. But the buyer will have to have the work done and have the installation re-inspected within the deadline set by the RGIE. It's often used to negotiate the price.
As a seller, you can get the work done in advance to sell with a passed report. As a buyer, we price the corrections to help you decide, then carry out the compliance work after the sale.
Very old installation? A full rewire can cost less than a long list of corrections.
