Major leak: what to do first
Turn off the water supply. The main stopcock is usually near the Vivaqua meter, often in the cellar, a utility room or a service duct in a flat. For a leak in one place, close the appliance's own shut-off valve (toilet, washbasin, washing machine).
Keep water away from electricity. If the water is getting near sockets, an appliance or the fuse box, switch off the breaker concerned, and never touch electrical equipment while standing in water.
Limit the damage: mop up, protect your belongings and take photos for your insurance. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 112; for the leak itself, call us.
